Heritage, Culture, and Legacy
The Eighth Centenary does not end with the closing of the Jubilee Year. It was created precisely to leave a lasting legacy, a mark that ensures the preservation, knowledge, and spiritual experience of the Cathedral for generations to come.
In recent years, essential restorations have returned their splendor to some of the Cathedral’s most admired ensembles: the Transparente, a jewel of Spanish Baroque; the paintings by Juan de Borgoña in the Chapter Ante-Chamber; the medieval stained glass, now shining again like a book of light; and the reliefs, sculptures, and ornaments that shape the visual narrative of Toledo’s faith.
The Centenary’s legacy also extends to the cultural and social sphere: the creation of the Friends of the Cathedral Association, designed to strengthen the bond between civil society and the Cathedral Chapter; the publication of new guides and catecheses; collaborations with ONCE, ensuring a fully accessible experience of Lumina and Cathedral tours; and training and volunteer projects that carry forward the spirit of service and hospitality inherent to Spain’s Primate Church.
Thus, the Centenary is not only a commemorative event but a living work, open to the future, in which the Cathedral reaffirms its mission as a beacon of faith, culture, and beauty for Toledo, Spain, and the world.
