Official Presentation
Spain’s Primate Cathedral of Toledo has officially launched the communication and promotion campaign for its Eighth Centenary. This marks a new milestone within the comprehensive commemorative program that is already underway and will continue throughout 2026 and 2027, coinciding with the Jubilee Year. The presentation, hosted by Juan Pedro Sánchez, Dean of the Cathedral, and presided over by Francisco Cerro, Archbishop of Toledo, was attended by civil and ecclesiastical authorities, as well as institutional representatives.
Under the motto “Come and Feel the Heartbeat of Toledo”, the campaign uses the metaphor of the heart as its central theme—a universal symbol representing both life and emotion, reflecting the pivotal role the Cathedral has played in the city for eight centuries. “For 800 years, the Cathedral has been the true lifeblood of Toledo. We didn’t want to celebrate only the building, magnificent as it is, but everything it represents,” explains Manuel Salas, project director at Ábside Media Producciones. “We aimed to touch the hearts of those who saw it, creating an emotional connection that goes beyond mere information.”
The campaign revolves around an audiovisual piece presented for the first time during the event. Conceived as the core of all promotional actions, the video seeks to convey the spiritual, historical, and cultural essence of the Cathedral through a contemporary and accessible visual language.
More Than a Commemoration: An Invitation to Pause
In the words of the Dean: “In today’s world, where everything is speed, immediacy, and superficiality, the Cathedral offers something different: a pause, permanence, unhurried beauty, silence, and meaning.” This philosophy aligns with the idea that “in a world dominated by the ephemeral and urgent, the Cathedral represents the permanent, the profound, that which transcends trends,” explains Salas.
The campaign also features a graphic identity designed to break away from the predictable. The result is a clean, contemporary, and emotionally powerful visual proposal, crafted to stand out in today’s crowded media landscape, especially on social media and urban spaces, while preserving the serene and reflective tone that characterizes the project.
Framed within the extensive program of liturgical, cultural, musical, academic, and educational activities designed to commemorate the Eighth Centenary, the campaign is open to believers, visitors, Toledo residents, and travelers worldwide. It will be deployed in phases throughout 2025 and 2026, with a strong digital presence—the video is already available on the Cathedral’s official channels—and tactical outdoor actions in strategic locations around Toledo.
The initiative aims to “open the doors of the Cathedral to the world,” as noted by the Dean, inviting everyone to “come, feel, and be moved in this space that has been beating in the heart of Toledo for 800 years.”
